PRINCIPAL ADVISOR - CITY OF HOBART URBAN DESIGN
Andres Lopez from Design Strategy Architecture was engaged by the City of Launceston as the Design Manager for the Launceston, City Heart, Stage 2 Project.
This is a key project in the transformation of the City of Launceston into a more connected and human-centred city. Andres design advisory and ideas were instrumental in strengthening the City Heart’s contribution to the existing and emerging fine grain, identifying and leveraging opportunities for enhanced connectivity to its wider context. His fresh and innovative ideas helped us create a much richer relationship with significant natural assets such as the Gorge Reserve and River Tamar.
Andres was instrumental in the facilitation of a successful Design Review process with Rob Adams from the City of Melbourne and other prominent panellists. Andres understood that long-term success required building a broader understanding of the priorities and outcomes within the Council. I am very grateful for his comprehensive assistance with briefing different teams and
departments within the City of Launceston.
PRINCIPAL - WOODS BAGOT STUDIO CHAIR
I had the pleasure of working with Andres during my role as the Studio Director for Woods Bagot WA for 10 years. As the Design Stream Leader for Woods Bagot, Andres was very effective in this role, which also encompassed design review of schemes designed by peers.
Andres was valued for his ability to design and think critically at different scales, his collaborative spirit, nuanced design feedback and his ability to inspire the team to push the envelope on every project. His character, dedication, and knowledge enabled him to anticipate both risks and opportunities in the design and delivery process of projects.
